If Learning German is a Jig-Saw Puzzle, this Book is the "Box Top."

In spite of the emphasis upon verbs in the title, the essentials of grammar part is just as valuable. I am studying German with Rosetta Stone, a teaching technique which teaches by challenging the student to "solve pictorial puzzles" in grammar and vocabulary. Rosetta Stone is a very powerful technique for me but it can occasionally be frustrating. I want to learn and internalize the grammar patterns and not just solve the grammar puzzles from rote memory. This book, along with Rosetta Stone, make a very effective teaching combination. For instance, using Rosetta Stone I can DEDUCE the gender and number endings of nouns and pronouns from the exercises but knowing the underlying pattern is helpful to cement what I have learned. This book is filled with the patterns of verb conjugations as well as noun/pronoun declensions in simple, concise form.
If you build jigsaw puzzles, you have probably developed a pattern of trial and error with trying the pieces but you also find it helpful to look at the finished puzzle on the box top, once in a while. That is exactly the same value that this book brings to my German studies with Rosetta Stone.

Concise and Readable Book of Grammar

This book presents the basics of understanding German verb conjugations and grammar in a very concise but also straightforward and easily understandable manner. The book is also a good source for vocabulary. There are not reading passages but then that is not the point of it. The book makes it easy to refer to it for specialized grammar needs. If you want to learn German, this is a great book to have.

Poor in conjugation

This item is not as good as it seems. The conjugation tables are not complete, you'll have to figure out many things. Better check "Teach Yourself German Verbs" ("Parken Verboten") that is a great book!
