Grandpa in the shower looks/feels/smells fishy

For the most part, i really enjoy A Very Touching Book. The illustrations and the humorous way that things are presented are great. Unfortunately, there is one page that makes me hesitate to use this book with the kids i work with. There's a page where the child gets really dirty doing something with Grandpa and then the two hop into the shower together. Sorry, but that smacks of common abusive settings to me. Many, many of my clients have been abused by someone in the bathtub. Maybe Grandpa in this instance was okay, but with the frequency of abuse in such settings, i cannot endorse this as a "safe" setting and have to skip this section with my kids.

I ordered this book because a friend recommended it to me. I don't have any experience in my own personal life with anyone being inappropriate with me but I have a friend that was touched as a child. This puts me on high alert (that it can happen to anyone) with my own children and I want to make sure its talked about so if anything ever happens they will tell me right away. My kids are 5 and 6 boys and this book was a little funny to them. The pictures and the words are the real pictures and the real words that adults use. Like Vagina, and penis. It was a little embarrassed to read the words out loud repeatedly but I did it and my boys just giggled. I think the book has a great clear message and I will probably read it to my boys 3 times a year just as a reminder. The book is a little bit long but worth the read. I think the message it sends to children is very clear about who should be "touching them" . It uses a lot of examples like hugging etc.

I bought this book to assist in explaining to my young boys what is and IS NOT appropriate touching areas on their bodies. This book shows very graphic pictures and was not appropriate to use with them at all. They laughed and thought it was a joke. The book shows everything on men and women in terms of sexual body parts. The description of this book did not match what I received and I do not recommend it unless it's for an adult.

I love Louse Rennison's books

I love all the books in the series, but "Luuurve is a many trousered thing..." is my favorite. I love that the author is the reader. The books are fun and always make me laugh out loud. I have started getting my niece into the series now and it's nice that we have something to bond over.

Good reference copy.

It's the same book as the third edition that sells for QUITE a bit more, this edition has the super thin pages that would not hold up to much abuse. If you're going to throw this in a backpack for class use it's going to get battered and torn up. For professionals looking for a review this edition should do fine. I'll be reading it at work at my desk, and leaving it there so I don't expect it to get any damage. Overall a great buy and so far the book looks interesting and informative. I'll come back after i've read the book if I have any more specific commentary.

(There IS a fourth edition already out so this is not the most recent edition. Look at the fourth edition description and it will tell you what they've added to that edition. I decided that for an additional $95 I didn't really need the small amount of added information)

Hull makes risk management real!

I was very reluctant to read Hull's book for non academic purposes and the one attempt I made of this book proved to be the beginning of an enjoyable reading experience. I think this book should be made popular in the Financial Engineering programs in most universities while the other currently famous writings by Hull serve to develop specific topics in the industry. Many practitioners would benefit a great deal from this book, at least in as far as asking the right questions is concerned. There are many banking professionals who barely know what a bank is and could benefit from this book in many ways.

This is by far the worst text book I've read about financial risks

This is by far the worst text book I've read about financial risks. Examples given are not adequate, this is a book for people who already know the concepts and calculations of financial risks. For beginner who try to understand and learn about how to calculate risks and hedging, please stay away from this book. It is ambiguous, examples are not conclusive, after reading the book, you still won't be able to answer the problems at end of chapters. No wonder it is selling for a low price. Most post-baccalaureate or undergraduate text books cost over a hundred dollars.
