About the Author
Leslie was born on the Canadian Prairie in the middle of the last century, started travelling the world at age 18 and has lived in the Caribbean for 14 years.He loves to hike and has walked hundreds of miles through mountain ranges (the Alps, Andes, Atlas, Cascades and Rockies) and trod through rainforests (Australia, Belize, Costa Rica, Dominica, Peru, St. Vincent). A Must Read For Those Seeking Greater Results On All Levels

This was THE best book to read for child loss

I lost my son one year ago, and it has been a lonely journey. Clara has written with such an understanding of the pain and loss of losing a child, you feel you are not alone in this. She writes with the understanding of brokenness, yet provides such hope in her chapters. This was THE best book to read for child loss, I have read more than several, and I have read this twice already and referenced chapters numerous times.

About the Author
Susan Henderson is a professor at Syracuse University, where she teaches architectural history in the School of Architecture and is on the faculty of the Renée Crown University Honors Program. She specializes in the fields of Islamic and early modern European architectural history. She holds a BA from the University of Washington, a Master of Architecture from MIT, and a PhD in architectural history from the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, Columbia University.

A brilliant, raucous subversion of the British detective novel

I bought The Mablethorpe Connection after reading and loving the first story in the book on the author's blog. Perry has up with a book that takes the standard, tired premise of much of British detective fiction - an alcoholic loner detective hiding away from the world in a provincial town and turns it up to 11. Then he's added the novel twist of setting the action in a down at heel (sorry, Mablethorpe) seaside town reliant on attracting D-list celebrities for its tourist trade. The result is a brilliantly funny collection of four stories that genuinely do make you laugh out loud. Perry has a fantastic eye for detail as well as an impressive knowledge of the more obscure areas of popular culture (this is a book where Condorman gets a mention), and he uses this to both keep the plot moving as well as keep the jokes coming. Recommended if you fancy reading a very different take on British culture.

led to giggling fits on my usually morose morning commute, involving involuntary snorting noises and shaking shoulders. Well worth a read and we can only hope for Nana Mouskori references and even more graphic breakfasts in the follow up; Waterman style.

I love this book. I have a feeling Snake would have "words" for a thirty-five year old American woman writing a review of his (mis?)adventures because, let's be frank: it's completely atypical for a gorgeous, buxom mother of three to be enamored of such a character. I was warned in advance that I might have to Google some words because it keeps being pointed out to me that I AM NOT BRITISH, but it wasn't the writing that caused me to Google. I really just wanted to be sure I could get a good mental picture of the exact model Lagonda that Snake drives. Also worth noticing is that our hero has a soundtrack to his life, and he's not going to start life on any given day without starting the music. I love that.

Seriously, this book takes everything I love about 1950's Mary Stewart mysteries, old James Bond movies, campy Agatha Christie plays and throws it all in a can, puts a lid on it, and shakes it well. Blessed with a rapier wit and an acid tongue, Mr. Perry takes his readers on a hilarious romp through Mablethorpe. There is truly hardly a moment when you will not be laughing while reading which can be a little annoying to the lumpy sod who's sleeping next to you. Each story builds upon the last in a way that ultimately makes you feel as if you're in on all the gossip in Mablethorpe. Perry is a brilliant writer and artist. My hope is that this book is a smashing success, and will open the door for more literary opportunities.
